Description:
The Environmental and Health Science
Magnet theme incorporates the study of health and
environmental science into the curriculum by using
resources in the local community. Using a real world
focus, students study local environmental and health
issues within an integrated, hands-on unit of study.
For example, the Beebe School has utilized Fellsmere
Pond and Park as an outdoor classroom where students
study water quality, invertebrates, pollution, trees
and aquatic vegetation. Students will also become
stewards of the pond as they create educational pamphlets
and field guides for the community. The school utilizes
local agencies, business, and health professionals
to enhance students' knowledge of the environmental
and health science fields and career opportunities
.
Mission Statement
Through the use of challenging curriculum
and exemplary teaching practices, the mission of the
Beebe School is to create a community of environmentally
aware learners and future citizens who have respect
for themselves, and for the environment and community
in which they live. The accomplishment of our mission
demands close cooperation among the Beebe community,
businesses, governmental agencies and institutions
of higher learning.
