MISSION
The
mission of the Ferryway School is to provide a safe
and secure learning environment where students are
able to work towards reaching their maximum potential.
Staff members strive to create an educational community
which both nurtures and challenges the student population.
DESCRIPTION
The
Math, Science, and Technology Magnet emphasizes the
skills and processes of all academic areas, with a
focus on the integration of mathematics, science,
and computer skills to enable students to comprehend
the world of scientific inquiry. The Massachusetts
Science Frameworks are incorporated into the design
of the classroom and science learning center activities.
This program sets high standards for highly motivated
students to pursue in-depth studies in scientific
processes and to acquire an appreciation of the impact
science has on our lives.
PARENT
INVOLVEMENT
Parents
are encouraged to play an integral role in the educational
process both at home and at school. An active and
dedicated Ferryway
PTO provides important support and resources to
both students and staff.

Ferryway School is a recipient of the Read First Federal

in reading to teachers of grades K-3. Our reading instruction
is based on scientifically-based research. We focus
on the five areas of reading instruction (phonemic awareness,
phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension).
Nationally
Recognized Science & Technology Curriculum
For two years in a row The Ferryway School was selected
to receive the competitive HP Technology for Teaching
Leadership Grant award. The award package included a
15 tablet computer cart, projectors, and International
Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) professional
development.
Leadership
Grants were a direct result of Ferryway staff creating
and piloting innovative technology driven PBU's, Project
Based Units, The
Saugus Ironworks Great Adventure and Layers-Biome
Breakthrough. Visit the Saugus
Iron Works wiki for more information.
