Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Malden High School is a comprehensive high school that offers core academic courses in Mathematics, English, Arts, Social Sciences, Science. We also offer Foreign Language courses in Spanish, French, Italian, and Latin. Outside of the core academic areas, students can take courses in Fine Arts, Business, Technical Education (metals, automotive, woodworking, and graphics), Physical Education, and Health.

Our student body is a diverse one, with more than 80 countries and 50 languages represented. Students presently take courses at the levels of Academic Prep, College Prep, Honors, and Advanced Placement in Calculus, U.S. History, Computer Programming, Spanish, English, Art, and Biology. Malden High School has a rich and proud history of graduating outstanding students who go on to become valuable members of the community.

Our School

The Malden School District believes that excellence in education can only be achieved with educated, well-trained, and highly motivated teachers. Its hiring practices are proven in selecting only highly qualified teachers to join the staff. Teacher participation in curriculum development is encouraged as well as individual teacher opportunities for growth through workshops, conferences, and advanced professional study.

Our Community

We have recently completed the sixth new school building in the past five years, Malden's education system is poised at the front line of quality of learning. With new state-of-the-art facilities, the students of Malden will greatly benefit from success in the city's public school system.

Graduation Requirements

All students must pass the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) tests in Mathematics and English Language Arts. Students not meeting the MCAS requirement but meeting all of the local MHS graduation requirements receive a certificate at graduation and not a Malden High School diploma.

In addition to passing the MCAS, students must pass a minimum of 20 units (combination of full-year credits and half-year credits) based on the following grid:

4 units of English (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade English)
3 units of Mathematics, one of which must be an Algebra Course
3 units of Science, one of which must be Biology (with lab requirement)
3 units of Social Sciences, one of which must be United States History
2 Units of Wellness (Physical Education and Health)
2 units from among the following disciplines: Business, Technology Education, Fine Arts
3 core/elective units from any displine
